| BIOGRAPHY | Barbara Waterman-Peters was born in Topeka. She received her BFA from Washburn University, her MFA from Kansas State University, taught at both institutions, and has been active in many arts organizations. Her award-winning work has been shown internationally, is in museum, corporate, and private collections, and is represented by six galleries, including the Cross Gallery in Kansas City, Strecker-Nelson Gallery in Manhattan, Warehouse 414, South Wind Gallery, and the Collective Gallery all in Topeka. She was invited to show in both the Kansas Inaugural and the Kansas Masters Exhibitions. In 2007 her work for the Washburn University Theater was exhibited at the Mulvane Art Museum. Waterman-Peters is a founding member of the Collective Art Gallery in Topeka, an artists’ cooperative just celebrating its 20th anniversary. In 2003 she was awarded a Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding Contributions to the State of Kansas. In 2008 she was invited to design the image for the Sunflower Music Festival. Waterman-Peters is also a writer, currently for TOPEKA Magazine. |
